As a class we learned about what we should and shouldn't do when using a camera and making a scene. Here are the main points we thought were most relevant so we can produce good quality clips.
Do's
Use appropriate props We must use correct props so that it will set the scene and we will be showing the audience what we want them to see. Also using the props will make the clips more realistic and could add an extra factor to what we are doing. |

make a plan, storyboard or script
Making a plan, story board or script will make us be able to film clips that we actually need and give us a guideline for us to know what we want to produce. We can include things like what each character says, what positioning, the camera angles etc.

Use tripod
Using a tripod will ensure that we have a stable stand and will make sure all of our filming is straight and there wont be any random wobbles throughout our clips. You can also make the tripod go side ways and turn around during filming so it will ensure its straight and not moving around to much.

Write a risk assessment
We must write a risk assessment because it could let people know why we have dangerous props, and we wont get into trouble for carrying these as we have written our risk assessment which will explain why we are doing this and what could happen from it, also who we may be putting at risk.

Have a set story line
Having a set story line enables us to follow a story and makes us know what we are trying to produce. It is best to have a simple story line so we don't over complicate things.

Stick to the brief
We must stick to the brief because you must produce what you are being asked to do, otherwise you may go off track and do something that actually has nothing to do with what you are being asked to do, so you would have done it completely wrong and would be a waste of time.

Wear appropriate costumes
Wearing the correct costumes could make the actors look like a victim, by having them wear white or light colored clothing, or look like a killer, wearing black and dark clothing (even masks).

Don'ts
Deface graves
Even though we are doing the scene of horror we can not deface graves as it is very disrespectful and we would not be allowed to do this to someones grave. An alternative to do this would be buying a face grave or stones.

Film the wrong way round
Filming the wrong way round is going to be a massive problem when you are coming to edit your clips as they won't be the right way and if someone else is watching your clips they won't know whats going on. To prevent this from happening use a tripod.

Pan
While filming you shouldn't pan because it will make the filming seem very blocked and you will be moving the camera around to much. If you want to show something that isn't in the view of the camera then stop recording and make it a separate shot. This will make it look more professional.

Film near loud areas
Try avoiding filming near loud areas that are going to distract your filming and will ruin your clips for when you're editing.

Use the same shots for a long period of time
Using the same shot for a long time will make the audience less interested as we would just be viewing the scene from one point of view and aren't able to see what is going on around them. Using a variety will allow us to understand what the actor could be feeling and let us get an insight and feel like we are actually there.
