How would you attract/address the audience?
We attracted our target audience by including scenes which would be appropriate for the age range we chosen, our age range was 15-23 years old. We met our target audience by making sure our opening title sequence included similarities with our inspiration from other opening title sequences (A Perfect Murder and The Expelled).
We done research on what to do for our opening title sequence, such as what would be a good storyline, location and props, music and how to edit it. We looked at websites such as love film, imbd, amazon, metacritic, bbfc and box office guru. This helped us because we got to see what sub-genre was most being watched and most enjoyed which gave us an idea on what sub-genre to follow for our opening title sequence. It was important we researched this because it would have needed to be suitable for our target audience and would have needed to be relatable to them so it would come across as more scary.
We also done a questionnaire based on our target audience to find out what they enjoy the most in a horror film. In our questionnaire we included questions such as location, props and what makes a horror film scary to them. We included a location that could relate to our audience because they have been to school or are currently still at school. The fact we chosen a school and it would relate to our audience also makes it more scary because we see school as a 'safe' place because there is a sense of authority in school, however, the teacher leaves the scene and gets killed herself therefore school is presented as somewhere which isn't safe due to lack of authority.
Another way we attracted our audience was by having them in casual clothing and for Sally dressed smart as she is a teacher. This was good because they fitted the roles they were playing by their appearance. However, for our killer he was dressed in all black. This was because he would have been hard to see because most of our clips are in the dark especially scenes of when our victim is getting killed therefore he wouldn't be noticeable. This would have been more scary for the victim as she wouldn't have been able to see him when he walked and when she ran back in the same with Sally she wouldn't have been able to see him.
