WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE LEARNT IN THE PROGRESSION FROM YOUR PRELIMINARY TASK TO YOUR OPENING TITLE SEQUENCE?
USING A TRIPOD
For our preliminary task we didn't use a tripod therefore when we held the camera and recorded the clips were being shaken. So this then made the quality of the preliminary task poor. However, in our opening title sequence we used a tripod, for shots that needed a tripod, meaning the quality was better for it and the clips weren't shaking. Looking back at our clips and realising how wobbly they were it then made us realise how important it is to use a tripod for our opening title sequence.
EDITING
For editing, We added effects for our opening title sequence and cropped clips to make our clips shorter so that our opening title sequence didn't drag, for example the flashbacks were cropped really short so the audience didn't see to much of them clips. We also added text for the titles for our sequence so that our audience know what the opening title sequence, who directed it etc.
PLANNING
For our opening title sequence we planned more. By more planning we done a storyboard, risk assessment, location and props, time of day to film and initial planning ideas. This allowed us to know more of what we were doing and made filming more quicker than our preliminary task. Also we weren't changing the storyline for our opening title sequence we stuck with the initial planning ideas therefore this made it easier when we were filming. Having a storyboard was useful to us because we decided what shots and angles would be more effective for each clip. Time of day was also useful to us for our opening title sequence because it allowed us to research when was best to film a horror. We also used a shooting schedule that fitted everyone in our group to film so we know how long it would take to film and exactly what we were filming and because we planned location and props we knew where we were going and what props we needed. Where for our preliminary task we didn't know what props we needed and where was the best location to film or the time of day. Which is the reason why it doesn't look as effective as our opening title sequence. Also, because we didn't use a storyboard for our preliminary task we didn't vary the shots and angles which meant our preliminary task was all the same shots and got boring.
SOUND
In our opening title sequence we varied our sound effects, for our preliminary task we only used one sound effect whereas for our opening title sequence we had different sound effect to create more tension for the audience and fitted it into appropriate clips. In our preliminary task the only sound we had were dialogue and non diegetic sound, whereas in our opening title sequence we added music and different sound effects that would fit the clip, for example, loud explosions and bangs where nessacary over the tense clips. This made the clips more tense and scary therefore creates more atmosphere for the audience.
ACTING
In our opening title sequence we used different actors than we did in our preliminary task. this was because the actors we used in our preliminary task weren't comfortable behind the camera when being filmed therefore didn't act natural during the clips, therefore we had different actors as they were comfortable behind the camera and could act natural during filming. This was useful to us because the clips looked better as they didn't speak as fast and didn't look as though they were putting on all their facial expressions and being scared. It also made the actors, especially our victim, look as though they didn't know what was to be expected.
